The Amargi is a grassroots-funded online media outlet established by a group of journalists, activists, and academics based in Europe. We are independent from any commercial and political influence and our donors support us because their democratic values align with our editorial policy.
We started working with the journalists discussing modern options for their new project. The idea of using WordPress Gutenberg together with NextJS had been in our minds for a long time. We had studied the story of the big media portals and how open source projects like Django grew out of them. Therefore we explored the possibility and when we were satisfied it was feasible we went all in.
